The photograph comes from my series of work investigating and celebrating female musicians, shot in 2021.  I discussed with them about the male-dominated industry and through discussion came to find their biggest frustrations, but also what empowers them to do what they love. 

I found within this series that women are held to an impossible standard of perfection, in how they present themselves, act and the music that they write. 

I have chosen to revisit this work for Full Plié as the expectation of perfectionism extends beyond the music industry, and may well be the beginning of another series exploring the perfectionism expected of all women.
